Testimonial - Megan Malugani

"As a stay-at-home mom when my son, Joey, was a toddler, I was always looking for fun weekday activities to pass the time.  We discovered the Minnesota Children's Museum in St. Paul when Joey was just a year old.  Always an animated and lively little boy, Joey squealed with joy at almost every new sight we encountered at the museum.  I remember him climbing through the "Habitots," which included fabric flowers for plucking and safe slides and tunnels decorated like a pond and forest.  In another area of the museum, Joey loved racing boats down water chutes (and being allowed to splash water indoors!).

Joey had the time of his life at the museum, and we left that day tired (which is always a bonus for a parent of a toddler!) and happy.  I realized the long drive to St. Paul would prohibit us from visiting the Minnesota Children's Museum as often as we would have liked, though.  That's why it's my dream (and the dream of many other Rochester parents) to bring a children's museum right here to Rochester.  Rochester toddlers, preschoolers, and elementary-age kids and their parents should all get to experience the wonder and delight of a Children's Museum of Rochester.  I envision the Children's Museum of Rochester serving as a sort of town square, where parents can bring their kids for "the best playdate in town," and where both generations leave happy.

My own kids are now ages 6 and 4, and we still enjoy playing and learning at other children's museums in the area.  But they keep asking, "When is that children's museum in Rochester going to be ready again?" and it's exciting that I can now tell them "Next year!"  Creating a Children's Museum of Rochester will be a gift to Joey and Bella (all the fun, no car ride!), and to all Rochester's children."
